Jessica Simpson Says She’s Got Indian in her Family

Jessica Simpson wants you to know she’s part ”Indian” and apparently that’s her justification for spouting off a phrase that offended Native American groups.
The singer was interviewed by TMZ and asked whether she wanted her ex-boyfriend Tony Romo to return an expensive boat she got him and replied “I’m not an Indian giver,” a comment which caused a frenzy of controversy. TMZ followed up with Simpson to see what she had to say for herself after the comment and she replied “I am Indian alright?”
Before you react, there’s more:
Simpson’s rep told TMZ the singer is 1/16 Native American “on her mother’s side” (*insert extreme eye roll here* oh OK, so that makes everything all better).
I didn’t know fair skinned natural blondes used the “one drop rule” for their own benefit, but it really irks me in general when someone claims another ethnicity that they barely have a connection to just because it sounds good in the moment (Ya’ll know you’ve met someone with story about how their great, great, great, grandfather was of a particular race, bragging about it as if that’s a claim to fame even though the only resemblance of that other race is the person’s Hawaiian Silky perm. Madness!).
Jessica, as we say over here at Spotlight girl bye! That’s all.
